Esteron floden

The Esteron river flows from the mountains all the way through Pierrefeu to Gilette and down to the Grenoble road, where it merges with the Var river. These two rivers intertwine and flow out into the Mediterranean at Saint Laurent.

On a warm summer day, the river’s color is a fantastic azure blue due to the limestone and sunlight.

You can swim in the river at several places. If you want a bit of seclusion, you can walk to the river from the house in 10 minutes. Alternatively, you can drive to either Roquesteron or Cerises in 10 minutes, where you will meet many people on a good day. It’s a good idea to have some rubber shoes to wear in the river, as there are stones on the bottom. The water comes from the mountains and is delightfully cool on a hot summer day. They say it is so clean that you can drink it, so I tried it last summer and it tasted wonderful!
